Privacy policy
Last updated 6 September 2026.
This site is operated by Shawn Whitney (“I”, “me”), trading as Story Master Toolkit. This policy explains what personal data this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to shawnwhitney@shawnwriteshere.com.
What I collect
When you send an enquiry
The contact form collects your name, email address, the service you’re interested in, and whatever you write about your project. I use it solely to answer you and, if we go on to work together, to run that engagement. I don’t sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone.
When you book a call
Discovery calls are booked through Google Calendar’s appointment scheduling, which collects your name, email address and chosen time slot in order to create the booking and send you the invitation and video-call link. Google’s processing of that data is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
Automatically, when you visit
This site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and operational purposes.
The site can also load Meta’s (Facebook’s) advertising pixel, which sets cookies and reports your visit and any resulting enquiry back to Meta so I can measure whether my advertising works. It does not run unless you agree to it. On your first visit you are asked; nothing loads until you press Accept, and declining is a single click that costs you no functionality. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, that is treated as a decline and you are not asked at all.
Where your data goes
- Netlify — website hosting and form submissions
- Google — discovery-call scheduling and the video call itself
- Meta Platforms — advertising measurement via the pixel
- MailerLite — email list, only if you have separately subscribed
- Gumroad — if you buy a guidebook, the purchase happens on Gumroad’s own checkout under their privacy policy; I never see your payment details
How long I keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as there is an active or reasonably foreseeable working relationship, and no more than three years after our last contact. Client project files are kept for as long as the engagement and my professional obligations require. You can ask me to delete your data sooner.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Email me and I will act on it. If you believe I have handled your data improperly, you can complain to your national data-protection authority — in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.
Cookies and consent
This site sets no cookies of its own and loads no tracking of any kind by default. The only cookies that can appear come from Meta’s pixel, and only after you have agreed to it, plus any set by Google inside the booking calendar if you scroll to it and use it.
Your answer is remembered in your own browser’s local storage — a single value that never leaves your device and is never sent to me or anyone else. You can change or withdraw it at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Legal basis
- Consent — for the Meta advertising pixel. Withdrawable at any time, as above, with no consequence for how the site works.
- Steps prior to a contract, and legitimate interest — for answering your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, running the engagement.
- Legitimate interest — for the server logs my host keeps to operate and secure the site.
Children
This site and these services are intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
Changes
